Special Olympics Kansas Unified Champion Schools Program brings high school youth with and without intellectual disabilities together through education and sports to create school communities of acceptance and respect.
Special Olympics Kansas invites you to bring up to four students (preferred equal distribution between students with an intellectual disability and student peers) from your school to an inclusive team-building summit and to learn about how your school can become a Unified Champion School.
We’re seeking students and school leaders who are interested in Unified Schools through Unified sports or youth leadership initiatives and who are passionate about the movement. Also, because this will be a leadership and networking summit, ideal students:
- are effective communicators
- have potential or demonstrated leadership abilities
- feel comfortable using technology/social media
- work well with others
New: Special Olympics Kansas will reimburse each school up to $500 for transportation, substitute teacher, staffing and other costs related to attending the summit.
