join soks at the 2022 usa games in orlando

Taking place from June 5-11, 2022, more than 4,000 athletes, 10,000 volunteers, 1,500 coaches and 125,000 fans from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will travel to unite and participate in one of the world’s most cherished sporting events. The Games will be comprised of as many as 16 Olympic-type team and individual sports and will be hosted at various world-class venues across the Orlando area.

athlete nomination

Selected athletes must demonstratea good sportsmanship, love for the sport, and the ability to function well as a part of a team. The athlete is not only dedicated to their sport, but is also able to commit extra time to training, travel to training sessions, and be involved in other USA Games activities as determined by the Head of Delegation.

Available spots for SOKS athletes:

Athletics: 2 females and 2 males
Bocce: 2 females and 2 males
Bowling: 4 females and 4 males
Equestrian 1 male western discipline
Golf: 2 females and 2 males
Powerlifting: 2 females and 2 males
Swimming: 2 females and 2 males
Tennis: 2 female and 2 males

Unified Volleyball Team: 12 mixed-gender (6 athletes and 6 Unified Partners)
Softball Team: 15 mixed-gender
Basketball Team: 10 mixed-gender

To represent Special Olympics Kansas at a national-level competition should be considered an extreme honor. As such, this opportunity is best suited for those who meet the following criteria:

  • 5+ years experience coaching the sport for SOKS
  • Age 25 or older
  • Certified Coach as per SOKS policy for the sport
  • Committed to the mission of Special Olympics
  • Additional sport experience outside of SOKS
  • Organized, professional, good sportsmanship

Available spots for SOKS Coaches: 

Athletics: 1 coach
Bocce: 1 coach
Bowling: 2 coaches
Equestrian 1 coach
Golf: 1 coach
Powerlifting: 1 coach
Swimming: 1 coach
Tennis: 1 coach
Unified Volleyball: 3 coaches
Basketball: 2 coaches
Softball: 4 coaches
